Kelvin Fu

Kelvin’s story begins with the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, an event that deeply shaped his worldview and future ambitions. This formative experience planted the seeds of resilience and foresight in Kelvin, igniting a resolve to build a life of financial stability and empowerment. He recognized early on the value of disciplined financial planning, prioritizing capital preservation and long-term growth, and became determined to create intergenerational wealth through strategic, value-driven investment.

His path into the private sector was not just a career choice but a mission, one he solidified through academic excellence and leadership. Awarded a scholarship to the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, Kelvin seized the opportunity to hone his skills, earning the institution’s only official class ring for his outstanding contributions in leadership and community impact. At Johns Hopkins, he didn’t just excel in his studies; he built a legacy, founding the Private Equity and Venture Capital Club and the Young Innovators Corps in Medicine—platforms that continue to thrive and foster entrepreneurial talent, a testament to his vision for sustainable innovation.

As the Managing Partner at Gunung Capital and Chief Transformation Officer at PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk, Kelvin brings a profound sense of purpose to his work. His focus isn’t just on financial returns; it’s about making investments that drive positive change, create value, and manage transformation sustainably. Kelvin believes that the financial sector holds immense power to combat climate change and is actively shaping the narrative of sustainable finance in Asia.

Sustainability & Change Management

Kelvin recognizes that sustainability is not just an ethical imperative, but also a source of competitive advantage. He encourages businesses to be the disruptors, not the disrupted by embracing sustainable practices and leading innovation.

As the Managing Partner at Gunung Capital, an investment firm focused on climate-focused impact investments, Kelvin guides clients toward sustainable investments and aims to accelerate the global transition to a sustainable future through strategic investments in carbon markets, decarbonization technology, and sustainable enterprises.

He also leverages his work as Chief Transformation Officer at Gunung Raja Paksi (GRP), Indonesia’s largest private steel manufacturer. He led the company’s shift towards sustainability, implementing an ESG Roadmap and focusing on hydrogen technology for steel production. This has positioned GRP as a leader in green manufacturing, further bolstered by a strategic merger and a green financing partnership with the International Finance Corporation.
